Singer-songwriter Robert Ellis searches downtown Houston for the woman of his dreams in his new video for “How I Love You.”
In the clip, viewers are escorted along with Ellis as he travels through his abandoned hometown chasing the fleeting image of his one true love. Houston’s normally busy streets are completely empty as he wanders through, giving you the feeling that something very important is missing in his world.
The idea to use the deserted Houston streets as a backdrop was one that came out of an idea shared by video producer Cullen Kelly.
“Cullen came to me with the concept of shooting a video in a major metropolitan area and making it feel completely empty,” Ellis explained to Consequence of Sound. “I think the city is the third character in this video. The idea is that falling in love has the power to bring a whole world into existence that wasn’t there before.”
“How I Love You” is the lead single off Ellis’ upcoming self-titled EP, which is set for release on June 3 via New West Records.
