Some familiar faces have returned to the top of the Country charts.
The top of the country music charts are being overtaken by some very familiar names.
Reba McEntire has returned to the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with 58,000 copies of her new album, Love Somebody, sold in its first week of release. This is McEntire’s first number one album since Keep on Loving You hit the number one spot in 2009. Love Somebody‘s is McEntire’s 12th No. 1 album.
George Strait has also had a solid appearance on the charts with his latest single, “Let it Go.” The single is his 121st entry on the Billboard charts and has had 27,000 digital downloads within its first week of release.
Both McEntire and Strait are the only two artists who have had number one’s on the Top Country Albums list in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.
Dwight Yoakam also is enjoying a strong return to the Top Country Album charts. He landed at number two with his latest release, Second Hand Heart, which sold 21,000 copies in its first week. This marks his best album sales since 1998.
According to Billboard, Second Hand Heart is also the highest charted album since his 1988 release Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room, which debuted at number one on the Country Album charts.
