Randy Rogers Shares Christmas Traditions and a Favorite Memory

Texas favorites Randy Rogers and William Clark Green are about to embark on the “We Will Probably Shoot Your Eye Out” tour, a three-day string of dates in Texas. The always entertaining pair will play a joint acoustic set and tell stories from their colorful careers.

“If folks want to laugh, they should come to these shows,” says Rogers.

Ahead of the tour, we chatted with Rogers about some of his favorite Christmas time traditions. It’s been a busy year for him. After finishing up his Nothing Shines Like Neon Tour, he’s headed home for the holidays to be with his wife and family.

Favorite dish on the Christmas meal table?
It’s such a male dish: chicken and rice with cheese.

Have you ever recorded a Christmas album?
I’d rather poke my eyes out. I think it’s a way to get out of a record deal (laughs).

What’s your favorite Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

My parents gave me a mandolin. It was at a time when I was thinking about taking the leap into music. That was their way of giving me their blessing. (He still has it today.)

Who’s the first one to get drunk on Christmas, you or William?
William. That guy’s an animal.
