1.8M Ram Trucks Recalled Over Safety Issue. Here's What You Need to Know

Do you own a Ram truck made during 2009-2017? If so, pay attention. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) issued a Ram Truck recall for 1.8 million trucks due to a mechanical failure that shifts the truck out of park without the driver's control.

That's obviously something you'd want to get a grip on right away.

In hot conditions, some trucks are shifting out of park without the driver stepping on the brake pedal.

According to an FCA press release, the company knows "of seven potentially related injuries and a small number of potentially related accidents."

Apparently, this problem only affects Ram trucks that have shifters mounted on the steering column. If yours has a floor-mounted shifter or rotary dial, you should be all set.

If you're a Ram truck owner and you want to see if you're truck is affected, find your truck's VIN number and enter it here.
