I don’t know about your household, but for mine, every Thanksgiving brings sparring over spuds. Specifically, the best way to peel them and get every square inch of skin off. The brilliant folks at CHOW have put this argument to rest with the simple potato peeling trick in the video above. It’s seriously this easy:
1. Boil the potatoes until they’re cooked as you would normally do – must be fork-tender
2. Place the potatoes in a bowl of ice water for 5-10 seconds
3. Simply pull the skin off. The temperature change makes it a snap.
Make sure to prepare the bowl of ice water beforehand, and know that this trick works best on Russet potatoes. Happy peeling!
