In 1996, the Farmstead Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival in Meridian, Idaho, opened up their first annual corn maze. 20 years later, thousands still flock to the national attraction, along with the farm’s pumpkin patch, hay rides and zip lines. This year, the team found some inspiration from late night television. Yes, 2016’s corn maze design features beloved Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon’s face.
Naturally, taking on a mission this grand isn’t a small task. Instead, it takes the team all year to plan it out and perfect the growth of the corn. What’s really crazy is that they don’t even know if their plan actually works until the very last second.
“We have no view from the air as we’re creating it,” Jim Low, Farmstead co-owner tells KTVB. “So we cut that out. We have a moment of truth when we go up in the helicopter to see what it looks like.”
