Things are heating up for new country songs as March sees a smattering of new tunes from notables headed to radio.
Let's take a look at new country songs for March 2018.
Chris Young, "Hangin' On" (March 5)
The second single off his seventh album Losing Sleep, "Hangin' On" is looking to follow up the radio success of the title track from the record. A run-of-the-mill, mid-tempo love song soft rocker, "Hangin' On" might not be up to the caliber of some of Young's other hits, but there's no reason it shouldn't strike a chord with his fans.
Eric Paslay, "Young Forever" (March 5)
It's been a little while since we've heard from Eric Paslay. He released some work tape demos in July, but "Young Forever" will be Paslay's first new studio recording since his 2016 single "Angels In This Town."
Russell Dickerson, "Blue Tacoma" (March 5)
Russell Dickerson's single "Yours" actually first came out all the way back in 2015, but it just hit No. 1 on country radio. His follow-up single "Blue Tacoma" already has nearly 50 million streams on Spotify and first showed up in 2016 on an EP.
Southern Halo, "Anything Is Possible" (March 5)
This trio of sisters from Cleveland, Miss. offers up this hopeful pop country ballad. Though they're still young, Southern Halo has plenty to look forward to as they grow as writers and musicians.
Kelsea Ballerini, "I Hate Love Songs" (March 12)
Kelsea Ballerini teased this song months before her new album came out and it already seemed destined to be a fan favorite. The clever song completely destroys love song cliches with a dose of reality while still offering a sweet sentiment at the very end. It's got serious potential as her newest single.
Jake Owen, "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)" (March 12)
If this new Jake Owen single sounds familiar, it's probably because he lifts the main music and parts of the melody from John Mellencamp's iconic rock song, "Jack And Diane." It's not necessarily a new concept (see: Kid Rock's "All Summer Long"), but it can be a little confusing. So what do you think, is it a good reimagining of the classic?
Trent Harmon, "You Got 'Em All" (March 19)
American Idol winner (and to think, he didn't turn any chairs on The Voice) Trent Harmon is still looking for that big follow-up song to his single "There's A Girl," and he might have found it with this sweet piano ballad "You Got 'Em All." It's one of the new country songs that might stand out among artists still working to cut through the noise.
Lucas Hoge, "Power Of Garth" (March 19)
Any time a tune pays homage to Garth Brooks you're probably going to win over at least few people right off the bat. This tune from Lucas Hoge is done particularly well, too, with references to some of Brooks' biggest hits and those universal feelings we get when you hear his iconic songs.
