NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Mike Wallace and his daughter Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden were brutally assaulted outside of a Rascal Flatts concert on Friday night.
Wallace, 57, and his family were leaving the concert at Charlotte, N.C.’s PNC Pavilion when the attack occurred. It started when Wallace spoke with a man who appeared to be intoxicated. Two of the man’s friends stepped in and started attacking Wallace. The three men then brutally beat Wallace, knocking out three of his teeth and rendering him unconscious.
“Mike was talking to one of the three men and then, out of nowhere, one came after Mike like a crazy man,” reports his brother Kenny Wallace to USA Today. “Mike was knocked out completely cold. While he was on the ground they continued to beat on him, kicking him in the face.”
When Wallace fell to the ground, his daughter laid on top of him to protect him, but the three assailants just started kicking her in the ribcage. Thankfully, she only received minor injuries. Wallace’s injuries included a black eye, three knocked-out teeth, 10 stitches in his lip and a concussion.
Wallace described the incident on his personal Facebook page. “What’s worse is three of guys that beat my family up were arrested and out of jail before we were out of the hospital. The white truck they were driving had the business name of LUCAS LANDSCAPING – Indian Trails, NC on the doors…”
Local police did confirm the three assailants had all posted their $1,000 bonds and been released.
We wish Mike Wallace and his daughter a swift recovery.
