One crafty New Zealand couple recently converted a flatbed truck into an incredible country home in less than a year and a half. The house on wheels has many amenities of a normal home: running water, a fireplace, a loft, a stove and even stained glass windows.
“It’s all about saving money and we don’t need a lot of space,” explained Alex, one of the homeowners. The cozy interior of the home is much more spacious that you would think and is plenty big enough for Alex, his wife Hannah and their cat.
In addition to being both comfortable and movable, one of the best things about the home is the rustic log cabin smell. That and cheap utility bills. The couple shared that 36 days of power only cost them around $25. In total, to build the house cost them $22,000 (which included the truck). To save money, the couple used recycled materials whenever possible when constructing the house.
If this kind of home appeals to you, you’re in luck! The couple had such a great experience building this home that they plan to make more in the future. The Smoking Tire was able to take a look inside the impressive mobile home. Watch the video below.
