For three straight years, Miranda Lambert and her MuttNation Foundation have been raising money to support animal shelters across the nation. In 2015, the organization was able to distribute $175,000 to shelters across all 50 states through their Mutts Across America: 50 States/50 Shelters initiative.
“I feel so passionately about helping all animals and I’m thrilled that we have once again been able to give to phenomenal shelters all across the country,” Lambert said in a statement. “The people at these shelters do such amazing work day in and day out and are truly heroes for the animals.”
The organization thoroughly researches eligible shelters and uses a specific set of criteria in order to choose the most deserving recipients. Each shelter chosen received a minimum donation of $3,000, which will go toward supporting daily operations and giving medical care to their animals. MuttNation’s ability to help these shelters keep animals off the streets and into long-term homes is one that gives Lambert a feeling of pride and accomplishment.
“When an animal finds a forever home, it’s not just life-changing for the animal, but for the family that gets to receive the unconditional love that animals give,” the country star explained. “It means so much to me to be a part of that process.”
