Miranda Lambert says fans won’t have to wait much longer to hear some of her new material.
Just before taking the stage at Nissan Stadium for CMA Fest last night (June 9) in Nashville, she revealed to Rolling Stone Country that she is wrapping up work on her long-awaited follow up to 2014’s massive hit, Platinum. During a pre-show press conference, Lambert said that she hopes to have new music released to fans by mid-summer.
Since her divorce from Blake Shelton last summer, Lambert has relocated to Nashville and focused her attention on creating new music and collaborating with others artists in the city. Last year, she recorded the track “Sweet By and By” for producer Dave Cobb’s concept album, Southern Family, in Nashville’s historic Studio B.
“It’s been a really cool journey because I’ve lived in Nashville for the last year almost now,” she explained. “I’ve been able to write so much more than I had before, just not being on the road constantly and moving from Oklahoma. All my friends [in Nashville] are songwriters. We’re either hanging out and accidentally wrote a song or we had it set up, so I probably wrote like five days a week for five months straight.”
So far, Lambert hasn’t shared any details of what her upcoming release will sound like, but it’s sure to mark a new era in her already incredible career.
