The Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Unplugged show at 3rd and Lindsley went on sale just a few hours before news of Lambert’s divorce from Blake Shelton broke on July 20. Tickets for the intimate show sold out in just two minutes, and for good reason. Not only were fans getting to see Lambert up close and personal, but she was joined by RaeLynn, Clare Dunn, and Courtney Cole, as well as songwriters Natalie Hemby and Jessi Alexander. Luke Laird and Alexander’s husband and fellow songwriter Jon Randall also joined in on the fun.
According to the Boot, Fairchild first appeared on stage to perform “Smokin’ and Drinkin’,” Lambert’s new single that features vocals from Little Big Town. “She told me, ‘You have a song I want!,’” Lambert told the crowd of how Fairchild approached her with the song. “So I said, ‘If I cut it, will y’all sing on it?’ This was at the CMT Awards, just joking around in the dressing room. But when I went in to record it, I thought, ‘If Little Big Town want to sing on my record, we are d–n sure taking advantage of it!’”
Along with their hit “Girl Crush,” which you can see in the video above, Fairchild also performed Little Big Town’s 2012 hit, “Pontoon.” Jessi Alexander also sang renditions of Lee Brice‘s “I Drive Your Truck” and Miley Cyrus‘ “The Climb,” which she originally wrote. Lambert also performed a long list of her own hits, including “Baggage Claim” and “Automatic.”
Proceeds raised from the concert will go toward a brand-new scholarship established by Lambert to help support female students studying business, songwriting or entertainment industry studies at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business in Nashville.
