This Mirrored Ranch House in California Reflects Amazing Mountain Views

Tucked in the desert of Southern California sits a ranch-style home covered entirely in mirrors. The unique abode, nicknamed the Mirage, is a product of artist Doud Aitken and is a part of Desert X, an art exhibition in the beautiful Coachella valley.

According to Desert X's website, the showcased art articulates global and local issues including climate change, tribal culture, tourism, gaming and more. What makes this "Mirage" so interesting is that each viewer will see something different, as the desert surroundings are constantly changing. Its mirrored walls take in scenery and reflect it back out.

The home and the landscape almost become one, as you can see in the photo below.

Honestly, it's a little bit trippy to look at. It's mind-blowing how the house blends into its surroundings. Desert X compares the structure to a never-ending kaleidoscope.

Check out the incredible sunsets that Mirage is able to reflect.

According to the artist's website, Mirage seeks to separate the ranch-style home from its typical narrative, which includes its inhabitants and their possessions. As an art form, the home now functions entirely in response to the landscape around it. Pretty deep stuff, huh?

Folks looking to stop by the reflective residence can stop by through the end of October. The best part about this exhibition? It's totally free! So, what are you waiting for? Visitation times can be found here.
