Classic country singer, Merle Haggard, gave an amazing performance of “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink” during a surprise performance at the Grand Ole Opry. No doubt fans attending the Grand Ole Opry for this surprise show got the treat of a lifetime.
The song is a classic, made famous by Merle himself. Released in 1980, “Stay Here and Drink” was off his album, Back to the Barrooms. Fun fact: The song was exclusively written by Merle himself and was his 26th number one country single. Talk about a legend.
Merle recently finished his Django and Jimmie tour with Willie Nelson. The tour was named after the Django and Jimmie album they released back in May 2015 featuring the two icons singing together on every track. Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds. If you don’t own this album, you really need to. It’s sure to become a classic.
