McDonald’s is holding a create-your-own-burger contest to find their new official Texas state burger. The winner will receive $5,000.
Under the campaign Create Your Taste, McDonald’s is giving Texans the chance to create their own official state burger at select participating locations across the state. The concept, which has been in the works since 2014, finally came to fruition in 2016.
You can enter your personal burger choice in the McDonald’s Burger Showdown here for a chance to enter the contest to win $5,000. That burger will become the first official McD’s burger for Texas. I created the McTexas, I’ll never tell what’s on it.
However, there’s something a little off about this burger builder. While they have Texas Toast, which better be the foundation of the winning selection, they don’t even have queso as a cheese selection. While the homage to pepper jack is nice, it’s a known fact that Texas’ unofficial state cheese is queso!
Regardless, they do make up for it with some surprise extras, like jalapeños and delicious sauce options. I’m not telling what my burger creation entry was, but you should enter, too, and see what crazy combinations you can create. The contest ends March 27 so get your selection in soon!
Either way, a burger officially for Texas is a step in the right direction for McDonald’s although, they’re no Whataburger.
