If you’re planning to head to Arizona anytime soon, there’s a new country music landmark you should check out. Glendale, Ariz. native Marty Robbins will soon be honored with his own boulevard in his hometown.
One mile of road, originally named Glendale Avenue, will now take the name of the beloved musician. The stretch of road lies between 59th and 51st Avenue in the city’s historical downtown district.
The honor coincides with what would have been Robbins’ 91st birthday. Sadly, the “El Paso” singer passed away from heart failure in 1982. He was 57.
If you happen to be in Glendale this weekend, you can see the unveiling of the official Marty Robbins Blvd. on Sept. 26 at 2:30PM.
