Margo Price Gets Groovy in New Single 'A Little Pain'

Hot off the heels of announcing her new record All American Made, Margo Price has debuted a brand new cut from the highly-antipcated release.

This time around, Price is blending in some Muscle Shoals grooviness into her winning retro-country sound. We'd heard it when she dropped her Weakness EP last month, and we're seeing it again on this latest single. It's called "A Little Pain," and it's a song that longtime fans of Margo's will be familiar with given that she's been tackling it while out on tour.

She rides the line between country and R&B on the track, melding influences from Muscle Shoals, Memphis and Nashville into a single song. From piano to Hammond organ, guitar and some lilting strings, it really is an impressively soulful affair.

At the center of the work, of course, is Margo Price's trademark vocals. Her sweet croon is unmistakable anywhere it goes, and "A Little Pain" is no exception. It's amazing how well she eases into a track that is in such a different sonic space than her previous full-length LP. In the end, it's all just another indicator of the talented artist she really is.

Margo Price's "A Little Pain" Lyrics

I'm so tired but I can't sleep

So many obligations I'm tryin' to keep

Gotta please everybody except for myself

But like Levon said, "Ain't in it for my health"

Everyone thinks it's all work no fun

But a little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone

I come home, I gotta leave

My reality is only make believe

Someone said it's one or the other

But I'm breakin' my back and workin' like a mother

Who's to say just how it's done?

And a little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone

Baby, slow down

Better hurry up quick

I feel so good that it's makin' me sick

And I didn't mean to call your phone

I said I like you the best when I'm all alone

It's been real but I gotta run

And a little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone

A little pain never hurt anyone
