CMT just confirmed a new episode of their hit show CMT Crossroads featuring country newcomer Maren Morris. For the mashup, Morris joins one of pop music’s best and most celebrated voices, Alicia Keys.
The show features prominent country artists teaming up with legends and stars from other genres. The collaborations feature songs from each artist’s catalog. And they usually come up with something pretty spectacular. The show is in its 15th season, featuring fifty-seven collaborations so far.
The episode, airing Dec. 2, marks Keys’ first appearance on CMT. While Morris burst onto the country scene earlier this year with debut single “My Church,” she’s certainly one of the youngest singers to land a slot on the show.
Keys, however, is no stranger to camera. She has an astonishing fifteen Grammy wins and cred as an author, actress and activist. NBC’s The Voice recently announced Keys as a judge on the upcoming season as well. Some of Keys’ biggest hits include “No One,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” “Empire State of Mind” and “Girl On Fire.”
Morris just released her second single, “80s Mercedes,” to radio. The song is steadily climbing the charts, currently sitting at No. 29. Her album Hero landed on many “best of” lists. Even more exciting, the buzz-worthy Morris finds herself on several short lists for “Best New Artist” consideration at the CMAs, ACMs and Grammy Awards.
Morris is currently opening for Keith Urban on his RipCORD World Tour while Keys gears up for the Sept. 19 premiere of The Voice. Their CMT Crossroads episode airs Dec. 2 at 9:00 p.m. CST.
