Singer-songwriter Maren Morris has a lot to celebrate this week. Her highly-anticipated debut album, Hero, has made its debut on the Billboard Top Country Albums at the number one spot.
Morris’ new record is the first of 2016 to make it to the chart’s top spot during its first week, and is also the first album to debut at number one since Sam Hunt’s Montevallo in 2014. The accomplishment of selling 37,000 records during its initial week of release is one that the Texas native isn’t taking for granted.
“I am still in shock at the response to Hero,” Morris explained to Billboard. “This album is everything I had envisioned when I first thought about making a full record. I couldn’t be more proud, and I’m so grateful.”
Excitement for the album was developed with the release of Morris’ lead single “My Church,” which is currently sitting at the number five spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Just days after wrapping up a busy weekend of appearances at CMA Fest, Morris is hitting the road once again. She’ll act as support for Keith Urban’s Ripcord tour, along with Brett Eldredge, through the end of November.
