Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood Win at 2015 American Music Awards

Luke Bryan has another award to add to his trophy case. The country star walked away with the award for Favorite Male Country Artist at the 2015 American Music Awards.

Although he lost out on the Artist of the Year Award to Brit-pop wonders One Direction, it was still a memorable night for Bryan. He took the stage again later in the night to perform his attitude-driven new track with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, “Home Alone Tonight,” for the first time ever on television.

Carrie Underwood also debuted her new single “Heartbeat” during the ceremony shortly before winning the Favorite Female Country Artist award. She happily thanked her fans, her husband and newborn son Isaiah for making the past year one of her best.

Sadly, bro-country still had a firm grip on this year’s award ceremony. Florida Georgia Line came out as the biggest winners of the night, grabbing the awards for Favorite Country Duo or Group and Favorite Country Album.

One of the most notable winners of the evening was Sam Hunt, who beat out pop and R&B giant The Weeknd to nab the coveted all-genre, fan-voted New Artist of the Year Award. After thanking those in Nashville who had stood by him since the beginning of his career, a slightly bewildered Hunt simply said, “I’m proud to represent country music tonight.”
