Following the recent terror attack in Florida, Luke Bryan pays tribute to the Orlando massacre victims and those affected at the 2016 CMA Fest in Nashville, Tenn. Bryan took a pause from his performance on June 12 to ask the audience to join him in a moment of silence.
The attack, the deadliest mass shooting in American history, took place in the early hours of June 11. A lone shooter, identified as Omar Mateen, entered Pulse nightclub in Orlando and opened fire on hundreds of people. At this time, 50 people have been reported dead and 53 injured.
Bryan addresses the festival crowd the following day, saying, “… I know that you guys have been dealing with a lot of the same things I’ve been dealing with. I want us to take a brief moment of silence and let’s think about all those families that have been affected in Orlando, Florida and what happened in our great nation last night. So, let’s take a moment and pray for all the families and everybody affected.”
After the moment of silence, Bryan proceeded to play his guitar and sing “Drink A Beer,” a song about losing someone you love too soon. He also asked the audience to pull out their phones to use the lights as candles in the night.
