Luke Bryan is ready to release his highly anticipated fifth album, “Kill The Lights.”
ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan announced plans for a new album during a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Bryan surprised fans with his announcement that the album, entitled Kill The Lights, will be released Aug. 7. During his visit, Bryan also performed his latest single from the upcoming album, “Kick The Dust Up.”
The single, co-written by Dallas Davidson, Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley, features a funky, electronic beat behind plucky banjo and punchy lyrics. It eventually builds to a fuller, rock-infused ending but overall has a steady rhythm that’s guided by Bryan’s sharp, conversational-style singing.
“We’ve been performing the new song on tour this spring, using it to open the shows,” Bryan said in a statement. “We love the crowd reaction to it and I cannot wait to be able to share more new music this summer. It’s been two years since we’ve had a new album and I don’t think I’ve been this eager yet to get it out to the fans.”
Kill The Lights will follow up Bryan’s incredibly successful 2013 album, Crash My Party, which was certified Double Platinum and supplied six number one singles.
Bryan will also perform “Kick The Dust Up” on the May 19 episode of The Voice on NBC. He’ll then head back out on the road with his Kick The Dust Up Tour, which will be in arenas across the U.S. through October.
