Most backyard summer parties aren’t complete without two things: watermelon and a bowl of delicious punch. The geniuses at Tablespoon have come up with a way to combine these two summer must-haves into one refreshing and impressive party centerpiece.
To make a watermelon keg, you’ll need to find a watermelon that’s slightly flat on the bottom so it will balance on your table well. Then, you’ll need to chop off the top of the melon. You can either just cut it straight across or add a little bit of decoration with a zig-zag pattern like the one shown below.
Next, you’ll want to grab a large spoon or an ice cream scoop to carve out the inside of the melon. You’ll have a lot of watermelon to enjoy once you do this, so you can set the fruit aside for a punch mixture or just eat it as is. Once you’ve finished emptying out the melon, drill or punch out a hole about two or three inches from its bottom. This is where you’ll put your spigot, which you can buy one online or in store for just a few bucks.
After you’ve attached the spigot, all you’ll need to do is add in your punch, and you’re ready for your next big summer party. Enjoy!
