Lady Antebellum is set to team up with popular EDM artist Zedd for a performance during the 2015 CMT Music Awards.
The two will perform a mash-up of Lady Antebellum’s current single, “Long Stretch of Love,” and Zedd’s “Beautiful Now.” CMT SVP of music events and talent John Hamlin says that the unique collaboration represents the recent emergence of EDM influences in releases from country artists like Sam Hunt.
“I’m starting to love the EDM/pop elements that are finding their way into today’s country and have been looking for chance to connect the dots on TV,” Hamlin explained to Billboard. “Both Zedd and Lady Antebellum immediately responded to our idea of putting them together for a CMT Music Awards performance. As far as we know it’s the first ever awards show country/EDM jam.”
Lady Antebellum haven’t been complete strangers to the EDM world. They performed a cover of “Wake Me Up“ by Swedish DJ and EDM hitmaker Avicii during a recent European tour.
