Lady Antebellum Nominated For Tony Award For Best Original Score

Lady Antebellum is up for a Tony Award at this year's ceremony taking place on June 10. They're included in the category of Best Original Score for their contribution to SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical.

Lady Antebellum's song "Chop to the Top" is a ridiculously catchy tune sung in the musical by SpongeBob and Sandy as a call to be brave and make their way through obstacles in front of them. The clappable beat and pleasing addition of playful violins in the background makes the lyrics, "You've gotta chop to the top if you want it/Just go ahead and give it a try/I know you're scared, just be brave, you can do it/You've gotta give it all you've got inside," seem effortlessly inspirational.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical debuted on Broadway in late 2017 and has earned a whopping 12 nominations at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course, Best Original Score. In the score category, they're up against the stiff competition of Mean Girls, Frozen, The Band's Visit and Angels in America.

The SpongeBob musical score is full of big-name contributors like Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Cyndi Lauper, Sara Bareilles and T.I., all of which are sharing in the Best Original Score nomination.
