This isn’t the first time the group has stepped foot into the ever-growing genre. Just last week, Lady Antebellum and EDM artist Zedd kicked off the 2015 CMT Music Awards with a mashup of their single, “Long Stretch of Love”, and his dance hit, “Beautiful Now”.
Lady Antebellum are once again crossing genres for an upcoming collaboration.
The trio recently revealed that they recorded a track called “Something Better” with EDM artist and producer Audien. “We got approached about it and we listened to the song,” Hillary Scott told Rolling Stone Country. “We loved the lyrics and the melody.”
“This is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time,” fellow member Charles Kelley added. “Lyrically, it was powerful. It reminded me of some those really great messages you hear from a band like Switchfoot.”
The band has been open about their belief that there’s room for all types of crossovers and hybrids of country music. “I’ve said the past four or five years, we need to start looking at this genre as a different thing,” Kelley said. “It’s broad. Pop music is so broad, why can’t we be broad? And let George Strait and Josh Turner live on the same channel as Sam Hunt and Taylor Swift — why not?”
