During this week’s blind auditions for The Voice, Blake Shelton’s team gained another talented musician with the addition of country hopeful Krista Hughes.
Hughes provided a stirring performance of “Angel From Montgomery”, a track originally written by John Prine and later made famous by Bonnie Raitt. Her rich and mature voice instantly gained the attention of all four judges, who fiercely battled for Hughes’ vote.
Judge Gwen Stefani called her a “beautiful, honest, natural talent,” but ended up losing out on Hughes to an extremely excited Blake Shelton. “We need her in country music,” Shelton explained after Hughes agreed to join his team. “She’s real good.”
