Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman Explains Why She Named Her Daughter After Dolly Parton

Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman recently adopted a baby named Dolly Grace, and it turns out the little girl has a special namesake.

The country quartet spoke with Nashville journalists recently when someone questioned Schlapman about her new bundle of joy. According to One Country, a reporter asked the bubbly blonde about the baby's name.

"She is named after somebody special. Yes," Schlapman responded coyly. "Dolly Parton has inspired my whole life... We had hoped and prayed for this baby [and] this was my husband's idea. It's perfect. I love it."

This is the second child for Schlapman who has a biological daughter, nine-year-old Daisy Pearl, with her husband Steven.

"Daisy is in heaven," the singer continued. "She's a little momma. She prayed for this baby every night when she said her prayers and she even asked Santa Claus for this baby. So that's pretty amazing also. She loves and adores her and she kisses her all the time. She carries her around the house."

It sounds like the Schlapman family has adjusted well to being a family of four, but the news came as a surprise to fans. It seems that some may have the missed the news that Schlapman adopted Dolly.

"We've had fun watching people go up to her and go, 'Golly you look incredible!'" the band's Karen Fairchild admitted with a laugh. "I'm like, 'I know she looks so good, right?'"

The adoption came at a perfect time for Schlapman, who was able to enjoy time with Dolly Grace before the start of Little Big Town's 2017 tour. They've got a hectic year ahead with dates scheduled through September, including four shows at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium later this month.

Full tour dates and ticket information is available on the band's official website.
