CMT has chosen Kid Rock to host its upcoming weeklong tribute to the Man in Black.
On the week of Sept. 8, the network known as Country Music Television will be temporarily renamed “Cash Music Television”. The celebration of Johnny Cash’s life and musical works is meant to mark the anniversary of his death on Sept. 12, 2003.
During the event, CMT will air “Walk the Line”, the 2005 Oscar-winning biopic that follows the lives of Johnny and June Carter Cash, played by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. CMT All-Time Top 40: Artist’s Choice will also showcase a list of Johnny Cash’s best music videos, voted by CMT viewers.
Although Kid Rock has been known as a long-time fan of Cash, it’s seems like a somewhat questionable choice for a musical curator. Even if you aren’t a fan of Rock’s brand of scandalous Southern rock, the week of content is a must-see for any Johnny Cash fan.
Cash Music Television will run Sept. 8-12 on CMT.
