Kenny Chesney is using his celebrity status to save lives.
After teaming up with Love Hope Strength Foundation for their Get On The List Campaign during his 2015 Big Revival Tour, the “You & Tequila” singer helped to find 25 potential matches for people across the country who are currently battling potentially fatal blood and bone cancers.
The campaign involved a number of Chesney’s tour stops having mobile locations set up by Love Hope Strength, where fans attending the shows were able to volunteer to undergo a cheek swab in order to have their details stored on a database to potentially save lives through a bone marrow transplant.
Unsurprisingly, the campaign was able to reach a huge amount of people across the country as Billboard revealed earlier this month that Chesney is the only country act to appear inside its list of the Top Touring Acts of 2015, seeing the star play for a staggering 1,335,022 fans in arena’s and stadiums across North America.
“When Kate McMahon with our tour promoter explained it to me, it seemed not only so simple, but the kind of thing the No Shoes Nation is all about,” Chesney recently said of partnering with Love Hope Strength in a press release.
“I learned through the Spread the Love Fund how small things can sometimes make a major difference,” the musician continued, “Give back to others, help where you can, live to the fullest and make a difference. I can’t believe they’ve found 25 matches, but I couldn’t be prouder for the fans who come out and live these songs with us.”
