Kelly Clarkson announced the release of her first country music album.
Kelly Clarkson has been busy since she released her Christmas album in 2013. After marrying Brandon Blackstock in that same year, Clarkson gave birth to their daughter, River Rose, in June of 2014. And, she just announced that she has been working concurrently on a country album and a pop album.
“I’ve actually been creating both albums, a country one and this one at the same time,” Clarkson told Time. “I’m both people. I have everything on my iPad from country to R&B to pop to rock. I listen to classical as well … I just like music. It doesn’t just stop at just one genre.”
Clarkson also explained that she has one pop album left on her contract that she needs to complete before she can move on to a new genre.
This won’t be American Idol winner’s first foray into country music. In 2005, she recorded a duet with Reba McEntire, “Because of You”, a ballad that details Clarkson’s difficult relationship with her mother. Coincidentally, after her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, McEntire became her mother-in-law since McEntire is Blackstock’s step-mom.
Clarkson has also worked with Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Trisha Yearwood, among others. No other details about the country album have yet been released, so stay tuned.
