Keith Urban‘s eighth studio album officially has a name: Ripcord.
Rumors have been swirling in recent weeks about the status of Urban’s highly-anticipated new project. Back in June, his single “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” quickly went to number one, and made fans crave for more new material from the country star. Earlier this month, the surprise release of his ballad “Break on Me” seemed to signal that the album was coming together quicker than previously expected.
It’s unclear when the album will be released, as Urban was still in the process of recording as of two weeks ago, but it will likely hit stores sometime in the very early part of 2016.
Until then, you can see Urban perform a special duet with John Mellencamp at the 2015 CMA Awards. The ceremony, hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, will be broadcast live on ABC from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov 4. Although the details of the performance are being kept hush-hush, it’s likely that the two will team up for “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” which name-drops Mellencamp’s old stage name.
