Who says it’s too early to get in the Christmas spirit?
Definitely not Kacey Musgraves, who just tweeted a picture of herself in the recording studio wearing a festive Christmas shirt. Musgraves shared the news of an upcoming Christmas album by captioning the tweet, “It may be June but we’re gettin’ festive! Expect a special Christmas record out in time to stuff your stockings!”
From the looks of it, Musgraves was taking care of some vocals for the upcoming country Christmas album.
For a lot of country artists, the term “Christmas in July” has a whole different meaning. Because it takes so much time and planning to release an album, most of your favorite country Christmas albums were likely recorded starting around now, and Musgraves’ is no exception.
Christmas albums are a time-honored tradition in American music, especially in country. From Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash to Sugarland and Blake Shelton, all of the biggest country artists usually get around to releasing holiday music. Though details are scarce, we’re excited to hear what twists Musgraves will put on classic tunes.
In the meantime, fans can catch Musgraves playing select dates throughout the summer, including several festivals, state fairs and shows in Las Vegas.
