Pageant Material, Musgraves’ sophomore album, sold almost 55,000 units in its first week of release. The highly-anticipated album follows in the footsteps of her 2013 debut, Same Trailer, Different Park, which also made it to number one during its first week.
Since the March release of its catchy lead single, “Biscuits”, the industry has been abuzz with anticipation for the album. Pageant Material has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from many critics and publications, including American Songwriter, Billboard and Rolling Stone.
Country fans aren’t the only ones rapidly grabbing their own copies of Musgraves’ latest album. Pageant Material also made it to number three on the all-genre Billboard album chart, pushing Taylor Swift’s pop-centric album, 1989, to number four by just a few thousand copies. With a solid track listing and a huge amount of support from fans and industry colleagues alike, it’s likely Pageant Material will be on the charts for weeks to come.
Musgraves recently announced dates for the Kacey Musgraves Country & Western Rhinestone Revue, which kicks off Aug. 27 in Atlanta. For ticket information and a full list of tour dates, visit her official website.
