Kacey Musgraves took on Coldplay’s 2000 hit “Yellow” during her recent performance at the annual Royal Variety Performance in London, England, where she performed on the same stage as Elton John and One Direction in front of Prince Harry.
Musgraves, who was the only country singer to appear on the variety show, performed a stripped-down cover of the platinum hit at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, which clearly caught the attention of the royal prince.
After the show, the two-time Grammy winner took to Instagram to show off a photo of herself high fiving the prince, who is fifth in line to the British throne, which she captioned; “When Texas meets Royalty” alongside the hashtags “#casual,” “#highfives” and “#idontknowtherules.”
The star also posted a photo of herself alongside fellow performer Elton John, where she wrote that performing on the big show “kind of ruled.”
But this wasn’t the first outing of the Coldplay hit for the “Biscuits” singer. Back in June, Musgraves also performed the song during an appearance on the UK’s BBC Radio 2 alongside a number of tracks from her new album, Pageant Material.
