On Sept. 26, Kacey Musgraves headed back to her hometown of Mineola, Texas for a special concert event.
Her first ever Hometown Hang featured a live auction, local food vendors and performances from Musgraves, Wade Bowen and John and Jacob. Proceeds raised from the event went to art and music programs in the Wood County school system, where Musgraves’ attended high school.
As a thank-you to Musgraves, her hometown’s classic car club came together to surprise her with a very special gift.
“I cannot believe what just happened – as a thank you for doing my Hometown Hang benefit..the Lake Country Classic Car Club and the City of Mineola, TX SURPRISED me and fixed up my old ’67 Mustang..shined it up and got it runnin’ again,” Musgraves shared. “Very emotional moment for me – It was a high school project my Dad and I worked on and I haven’t been able to drive it for about 7 years. THANK YOU SO MUCH!”
Along with this special gift, the 27-year-old was presented with her own key to the city of Mineola. Musgraves is currently out on her Country and Western Rhinestone Revue Tour through the end of October. You can find a full list of upcoming tour dates at her official website.
