It’s been a crazy couple of years for Kacey Musgraves. With the release of her hit album Pageant Material, the Texas native cemented her place as a respected artist in the country music realm. Back in 2013, Musgraves made an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry and opted to pay tribute to one of her favorite musical legends.

Her laid-back rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Are You Lonesome Tonight” shows off her impressive vocals and flawless ability to make any song her own.

Although the song has been covered by many over the years, Musgraves wisely opts to stay pretty true to the original while still adding some country western flair. Backed by band member Misa Arriaga, the pair’s voices blend seamlessly in the cover.

There’s some good news for those of you who are itching for new Musgraves material. She recently revealed that she’s been working on a holiday themed album, which will likely be released later this year. Otherwise, she seems to be enjoying a little bit of a break after nearly two straight years of touring in support of her past two albums.
