Fans of Josh Turner will be happy to hear that he plans to release new music in 2016 after a brief hiatus.
In a new interview with the Albuquerque Journal, Turner explained that unexpected barriers have stopped him from getting his new material out to listeners.
“If it were up to me, I would have had an album out in 2013,” he says. “There have been a lot of business issues that have popped up and I’m just pushing forward. The new music is there and I want to get it out to my fans.”
Since he released his single “Lay Low” last year, fans have been waiting for news about an upcoming full-length release. Turner says that his last single will be featured on what will be his sixth studio album. He also plans to release a new single sometime in early 2016.
“The fans have been pretty anxious,” he says. “Then I have to remind them that this is a business and there are a lot of things that I can’t control.”
Outside of recording, Turner says he’s kept busy by volunteering with organizations including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Special Olympics. He also released his first book, “Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood,” in 2014.
“A lot of people may think that I’ve been idle,” he explained. “These are all important to me and I try to make time for it all.”
