It’s been five years since Josh Turner released a new album, and his fans have been chomping at the bit for new music. Good news: The singer is plotting a return to country music with a new album, Hometown Girl. The record doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will likely drop sometime in 2017.
To the delight of his fans, Turner returned to Grand Ole Opry back in August to perform the lead single, “Hometown Girl.” Turner has one of the most distinctive baritones in the business, and it seems to have only grown richer.
Turner was just tapped to perform at the upcoming Randy Travis tribute concertt in February. The two country singers share a similar singing style and have performed together in the past. Their duet of Travis’ “Deeper Than the Holler” shows how well their baritones blend. Turner also covered Travis’ “Three Wooden Crosses” for the Forever Country Cover Series that led up to the 50th annual CMA Awards in November.
