It’s always a challenge to put your own spin on a country legend’s hit, but Josh Abbott Band managed to do it with style. The beloved Texas band brought a little laid-back bluegrass to George Strait’s “Give it Away.”

Although there’s still plenty of elements from George’s trademark sound, the band made it their own with a slower pace and plenty of plucky banjo.

“This is for you, King George,” Abbott says before sliding into a rendition of Strait’s 2006 hit.

The special cover was created to celebrate the release of Strait’s new box set Strait Out of the BoxPart 2Other country artists who have paid tribute to Strait for the series include Randy RogersCody Johnson, Casey Donahew and Aaron Watson.
