Johnny Cash's Sun Records Releases Featured on New Compilation

Established UK reissue label Charly Records recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of the first Johnny Cash LP with an all-new Greatest Hits collection. The album compiles 20 hits from Cash's Sun Records singles from 1955-'61, including such legendary songs as "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Ballad of a Teenage Queen" and others.

Each track was remastered from the original master tapes, mastered at half-speed for maximum sound quality. The 180 gram vinyl packaging includes sleeve notes by Sun Entertainment Corporation President John A. Singleton.

"We applaud and congratulate Charly Records for ensuring Johnny Cash's legendary Sun catalog continues to be available on the quality formats his music deserves, especially on vinyl for this newly remastered Greatest Hits album," says Singleton in a press release.

Versions of each track appear on numerous other releases, including some past Charly Records projects. Still, this reads like an audiophile country fan's dream. For new record collectors, what better way to hear Cash's contributions to a pivotal time in the development of modern popular music.
