After canceling most of their tour dates following Joey Feek’s terminal cancer diagnosis, Joey and Rory have recruited a special guest for an upcoming performance.
Last week, Rory shared the devastating news that his wife and musical partner Joey’s cancer had become terminal. In a post to his blog, This Life I Live, he told fans of their decision to cease treatments and return to their Tennessee home “not to die, but to live.”
Shortly after, Joey and Rory’s manager shared a note revealing that the duo would still perform their Oct. 29 and 30 shows in Utah, along with Rory’s daughter Heidi.
“Though all of the November and December farmhouse concerts at Joey and Rory’s farm in Tennessee have been cancelled in order to honor Joey as she rests and recovers at home. Rory (along with his daughter Heidi) will be traveling to Utah to perform at the Heber Valley Gathering because the couple made this commitment with their wonderful friends at the festival nearly a year ago and this event’s success means a great deal to both of them. They have performed there many times in the past and it is one of their favorite places to play…So, if you live near Salt Lake City or can make the trip there… please come join Rory as he shares many songs and some heartfelt stories about the blessings and also the difficult struggles that have come Joey and his way.”
Tickets are still available for this very special performance, which will likely be emotional for everyone in attendance.
