Even though Joey Feek from Joey and Rory is battling cancer, it hasn’t stopped her from recording new music.
Her husband and musical partner, Rory Feek, has been keeping fans updated on his wife’s health as she goes through intensive chemo and radiation therapy. Shortly before the couple left Nashville, Tenn. for the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Georgia, the two recorded an entire album of traditional hymns.
“This is a project that has been a dream of hers to do since she was very young,” Joey explained on his blog, This Life I Live.
After Joey completes her cancer treatments each day, she returns to the hotel to record vocals for the album. In the coming days, the Feeks will head home to perform two sold-out concerts at their farmhouse and record a TV segment for their upcoming album.
“It’s a lot for us to do, especially since Joey’s in the middle of chemo and radiation right now, and she doesn’t feel well,” Joey admits. “But this record is important to her, and she wants to do the taping before the next round of chemo takes her hair and most of her energy away.”
The couple shared these updates, along with this intimate video that shows Joey recording their new album between her intensive cancer treatments.
