Jo Dee Messina Updates Fans on Her Battle With Cancer

On September 6, 2017, Jo Dee Messina's website and Facebook page were updated to reflect the terrible news that the talented singer, well known for 90s hits "Bye, Bye" and "I'm Alright," was diagnosed with cancer. Details about her diagnoses weren't given, but it was explained that she would stop her tour and take the semester off from college courses she was taking to start treatment.

Over the weekend, a new update was posted to her official Facebook page. In part, it reads: "Many of you have requested updates and we are happy to report that she is feeling well and has kicked off her 2018 shows. She has also been in the studio writing and recording new music. That new music speaks directly to where Jo Dee's heart was during a tumultuous summer and where it remains today — a place of gratitude for an unconditional, real, and faithful love."

"For all of you who have been asking how Jo Dee is doing and what is next for her, the answers are in the lyrics of this song," the post reads.
