Jason Isbell has performed in Nashville dozens of times to crowds of all sizes. Although he’s performed at the historic Ryman Auditorium numerous times, both as a solo artist and with the Drive-By Truckers, he only just recently made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry during its winter residency at the venue.
On Dec. 15, Isbell and his wife Amanda Shires teamed up for a stunning performance of his track “Flagship”. The crowd was brought to silence by the emotional, stripped-down rendition of the song, which is featured on his recent record-breaking album, Something More Than Free.
Over the years, Isbell’s incredible stage presence and folk-drenched vocals have helped him sell out shows across the globe. Still, his performances in the Music City seem to always have a little extra sparkle, and his debut at the Opry was no different.
The three-song set gave concertgoers a taste of the powerful sound that has made Isbell’s live show one of the hottest tickets around. Although short, the performance was likely one of his most memorable and meaningful in his career as a solo artist.
