Jason Aldean Makes Surprise Visit to a Route 91 Survivor

On Friday, April 6, Jason Aldean made a special stop at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix to visit Route 91 Harvest Festival survivor Jovanna Calzadillas.

Calzadillas was shot in the head during the tragic shooting that took place on Oct. 1, 2017. She was not expected to make such a significant recovery due to the severity of her injuries, but in the photo posted to Facebook by the Barrow Neurological Institute, she is seen standing between Aldean and her husband with a grin from ear to ear. Aldean honored Calzadillas's strength by giving her a special signed guitar.

Calzadillas is among over 800 concertgoers who were injured during the Las Vegas concert shooting at which Jason Aldean was the headliner. Fifty-eight people passed away. According to Today, Calzadillas' recovery was deemed "miraculous" by doctors since the bullet entered her brain. But after four months she was able to leave the hospital to return home.

Of course, nothing will be the same for Calzadillas after the deadliest mass shooting in America. "On October 1, a part of me changed that night," she stated. "Even though I won't be the same old Jovanna, I will come back stronger. We will not let people like him win. We will not live in fear."
