Watch Alison Krauss and Jamey Johnson’s Bewitching Opry Duet ‘My Dixie Darlin’

Jamey Johnson and Alison Krauss cast a spell on the audience with their bewitching rendition of “My Dixie Darlin'” at the Grand Ole Opry.

Johnson and Krauss have plenty of practice as duet partners. The two teamed up on “Make the World Go Away” for a 2012 Hank Cochran tribute album. In 2015, they wowed the crowd at a Willie Nelson tribute concert with the Nelson and Ray Charles classic “Seven Spanish Angels.”  Johnson’s rich baritone and Krauss’ angelic soprano make a perfect blend of grit and sweetness. That same mixture was a winning combination for the duo’s recent performance at the Opry.

The song was first recorded by The Carter Family in 1936 as a lively, front porch hootenanny tune. June Carter’s daughter Carlene Carter later recorded a revved up version of the song on her 1990 album I Fell in Love.

Johnson and Krauss strip the song down to its bare bones for a spellbinding, southern moonlight love song serenade.

Johnson and Krauss will perform at the Feb. 8 Randy Travis tribute concert, 1 Night. 1  Place. 1 Time: A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis. The concert, featuring Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, William Michael Morgan, Tanya Tucker and more, will honor the singing legend who suffered a serious stroke in 2013. Travis will perform with his band for his first public performance since his health crisis.
