Little kids dream of riding the school bus on their first day of school. Teenagers dream of getting their drivers license so they don’t have to ride the school bus anymore. And one woman dreamt of turning a school bus into a home. In early 2015, her dream became a reality.
In October of the previous year, a woman bought a 60-seater bus in Shelbyville, Tenn. for $2,125 – But that was just the beginning. Over the last year, with a little bit of elbow grease and a whole lot of craftiness, she transformed this school bus into a tiny home.
In the end, with the help of friends and family, the woman flipped the old bus into a 220-square-foot living space.
To transform the school bus into the Tennessee abode of her dreams, she started by gutting the bus and removing the seats.
Next, she and her team framed the walls and installed built-in furniture.
Once the basic frame was set up inside, it was time for customization. With decorations, furniture and appliances, the old bus actually starts to look like a tiny home.
Behold, the incredible transformation:
Not a single inch of space goes to waste in this tiny home. Where there was once a driver’s seat, there’s now a bathroom vanity.
Yes, this home may be tiny, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t functional. This washer-dryer combo gives the owner all the function of both appliances without all the wasted space.
The woman even managed to have room for a bed in the center of the living space. Of course, there’s plenty of natural light to wake up to in the morning.
This renovation spares no amenities. She even managed to squeeze in a spacious shower.
She gave the tiny home a variety of artistic touches, like the custom-painted bathroom door.
