How to Make Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Nothing gets you ready for St. Patrick’s Day quite like preparing a delicious corned beef and cabbage dish. If you don’t know quite where to start, Allrecipes has a perfect slow-cooker corned  beef option. It’s pretty much fail-proof and only requires a few ingredients.

You’ll start by putting 4 large shredded carrots, 10 quartered baby red potatoes and 1 chopped up onion in the bottom of your slow-cooker.

Then, add 4 cups of water and place your corned beef brisket on top of your vegetables.

Next, you’ll pour 6 ounces of beer over your brisket (we recommend a dark ale or stout). Sprinkle the spice packet that comes with the corned beef onto the meat. If you want to make your own spice mix, though, this homemade pickling spice recipe is delicious.

Cook the brisket on high heat for 8 hours, stir in 1/2 a head of shredded cabbage and let it all cook for 1 more hour.

Voilà! That’s it. Pretty simple, right? Your St. Patrick’s Day guests will be so impressed with your corned beef and cabbage dish, they’ll never know it only called for seven ingredients.
