There are some things you just don’t see every day.
Florida residents have recently been puzzled by one of those sights – an entire home covered in aluminum foil.
According to the Lighter Side of Real Estate, Piotr Janowski owns the Tarpon Springs, Fla. home that has recently become the talk of the town, thanks to its shiny new exterior.
“Curious onlookers rarely identify the installation as art,” Janowski told ABC News. “It was almost always assumed to have a practical value, such as a new form of insulation, pest control, or fire retardant.”
Literally every single inch of the house is covered with foil, from the windows all the way to the driveway.
Some of his neighbors don’t see the beauty in his decorating choice and have investigated whether or not he is violating any city ordinances. Even though he is renting the property, his decorating choices haven’t broken any laws or (perhaps even more surprising) lease agreements. Janowski has even expanded the foil project out onto the trees and foliage that surround his home.
So what’s the real reason for covering his home and its surroundings with foil? According to Janowski, it’s all in the name of art. He says he wants to give people a new perspective on everyday sights that get overlooked.
“It doesn’t matter if they love it or hate it,” Janowski insists. “It’s very good for any artist. This is just really the beginning.”
